정예빈 Jung Yebeen
Jung Yebeen's collage work is reminiscent of the desk of an artist in the Joseon Dynasty. She colored the Hanji(Korean traditional paper) and cut out the simplest form. It looks like the tranquility of daily life and the colorful natural scenery. Oriental painting has long been regarded as an expression of the artist's own thoughts, combined with the efforts of those who faithfully observed the object through delicate description. Jung Yebeen also does not try to draw objects as they are seen, but rather puts what is seen in mind and combines them again. She emphasizes the beauty of the unique margins of oriental painting with collage pieces, not brushes, and at the same time shows the sophisticated and subtle colors expressed by traditional materials of oriental painting. Jung earned a bachelor's degree in painting and a master's degree in painting and formative arts at Sookmyung Women's University. She also went through a residency at the Suwon Cultural Foundation for about two years in 2019.
